COMMENTS

Overlooking scenic Monticello Canyon this is a private hideaway away from it all.  There is approximately 10 acres of pasture which could be farmed to grow alfalfa or hay with the separate purchase of water rights.  Doing so could provide hay for horses and or help brig in the wildlife.  A previous owner would fill and earthen pond on the property and then irrigate the 10 acres of farmland.  (Pictured:  Fields.  Click to enlarge.)

ADDITIONAL REGIONAL INFORMATION

Truth or consequences is situated on the banks of the Rio Grande between Las Cruces and Albuquerque in southwest New Mexico and has long been a preferred vacation site of New Mexico natives.  Traditionally visitors have come to bathe in the soothing hot springs or partake in the many recreational opportunities at the two large lakes nearby.

For the past 50 years, Truth or Consequences has been one of the American Southwest's best kept secrets.  In the past decade, however, Truth or Consequences has begun to garner more national praise.  The number of retirees relocating here continues to grow.  Population increased in the 1990s by 16.3%.  Here the breathtaking views, nearby state parks and sunny year-round climate remain the biggest neighborhood attractions.  Elephant Butte Lake, the largest State Park in New Mexico, has become a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

This region of New Mexico is becoming very attractive with a number of new and exciting projects.  The $225,000,000 Southwest Regional Spaceport, a partnership between the State of New Mexico and Virgin Galactic (headed by businessman entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson), is planning on building a commercial space flight facility within the county. The tourist suborbital space flights are scheduled to commence in the coming years.  A proposed NASCAR-sanctioned racetrack and high performance driving school is expected to break ground later in 2006 near the municipal airport.  The historic downtown is experiencing many tasteful renovations that are modern yet still remain the quaintness of a small community.  An art community is obvious with galleries, boutiques and music concerts.
